Question:
I am a computer tech more than 5 years of experience. I moved from
California to New Jersey. The computer business is pretty much dead here. I
look at the newspaper ads for job and see that construction workers are
always in demand and get paid very well. So, I like to get into the
construction field. I am just wondering if there are any construction trade
schools or vocational centers in New Jersey where they teach you
construction.
Answer:
What trade are you interested in?
I'm a carpenter, and can only speak to that trade, although I believe
other trades are similar.
If I were to do it again, I would follow the same path.
My suggestion is to investigate joining the local of the Botherhood of
Carpenters & Joiners nearest you.
The Carpenter's union. Good wages, health care, an internationally
recognized school, and a formal apprenticeship.
