Question:
I went to a "trade school" for 4 months and owe near 3,000 for a direct loan can that be right?
I went to one of them medical billing coding nursing schools for 4 months. I was told that I eas elgible for financial aid, I had an infamt daughter at the time and really had no money. I was told that I should take out the loan to pay for personal expenses, the loan was supposed to come to me I was told. I recieved financial aid for that school which was supposed to cover everything, all the expenses, but instead the school used money from my "personal loan" when financial aid should have covered it, I only went there for 4 months and now I owe 3,000. I am enrolled in a community college I recieved financial aid, and I do not have to pay for anything. Now I have a bill for $50.00 a month, from direct loans should I pay this? Was I scammed by the trade school? What should I do? I don't have the money, and how could I possibly owe 3,000 for attending 4 months?
Answer:
If I am thinking right, I believe the Direct Loan Program you are referring to is financial aid that comes directly from the Department of Education. If so, contact the Department to inquire about it.
