Question:
My granddaughter has two children and is going to school. We need financial help. What are some options?
She is going to school to learn a trade, so she support herself and her two children. She had a bad relationship that she got out of two years ago and moved here with us from Ark. We have did our best to help her get on her feet. Her car is not in the best of shape, she really needs another, but we cannot afford one, her grandfather went to get her in Houston, where she goes to school, broken down on the side of the road. Someone told me that there are people and organizions that could help us. We would not ask but we have just about done all we can do and do not know what else to do at this time.
Answer:
She can apply for financial aid. The first step is to go to fafsa.gov and fill out the financial aid application. She may be able to get financial aid or student loans. Also, she should go to the local social security office. She may be able to apply for Medicaid and food stamps for her and her children, which will offset some of the living costs.
