Get the Surgical Tech Success Handbook and get in the high-paying medical industry!

Veterinary technical institute-anyone taken classes from here or heard of them? has anyone ever taken a program through this online school offering veterinary receptionist and small animal technician program courses? i'm looking for a way to get into the field immediatley without an AA Degree, and wanted to know someone's opinion on this school and their programs. it is called Veterinary Technical Institute. it is based in Florida.

No, I've never heard of it. I would be a little weary of online programs. You are not going to get the hands-on experience that you need as a tech. And believe me, there are enough uneducated, inexperienced girls who only last for a month in this field. It is not playing with puppies and kittens all day. You need to go to an Acredited program by the AVMA. It only takes about 18 months/2 years and it means better jobs, better pay, and will weed out the people who are not serious about this job. JMO!

I don't mean to sound rude, but it is mentally a hard job to handle, and there is alot more to it than you probably think. You do all the Xrays, bloodwork, surgery assistance/prep, labwork, cleaning, paperwork, pharmacy prescriptions, client education, etc.

Edited to add that the first person is right...this is NOT a high paying job, and alot of Vets can't afford to give you alot of benefits. The people who are in the field do it because they are helping animals. There are alot of vets that may hire you without a degree, but its a stressful job, and they don't like to constantly be teaching you things.
