Question:
I want to work in the electrical trade PLEASE HELP?
Right now i really want to be an electrician but i've heard that in order to make REAL MONEY in this trade you must go to college. Right now I a Junior in HIgh sCHOOL and i have grades for college. Should I go straight to trade school and study to be an electrician OR should i go to college and study (i dont know what major to major in if i go to college) In school I am okay with math but I not one of the best please help me.
Answer:
You could check your local community college to see if they have a program called "Electrical Technician" or something similar, but trade school would get you where you want to go more quickly, and you may be able to participate in a trade school program while you are in high school. Checck with your Guidance Counselor at school. You can also try & work with a construction firm over the summer - probably as a "gopher" if you don't have any skills - and that would at least expose you to the field.
If you are successful in trade school you might then consider a college program in Electrical Engineering, or a similar program.
