Question:
What's the best way to get a job as an electrician or heavy equipment operator?
I wanted to start a job as an Apprentice Electrician or a Heavy Equipment Operator. There are no unions here in Denver that I can find for either career. I don't have any inside connections, and I don't have a college education.
I have tried Craigslist but most companies want someone with experience. So, how do I get experience if I need experience to get experience?
Thanks for your help with either electrical or heavy equipment.
Answer:
you are either an electrician or not...go to school to learn; if a GI, get into a program with a big company that can afford an apprentice program.
don't vacillate and don't one hand know what the other hand is doing...employers don't want to employ u as a electrician and have you talk about heavy equip.
If you can drove H E then go out and prove yourself up. It'll take me 3 minutes to know if you can handle a dozier or backhoe etc.
go to school or find apprentice programs, they are usually 4 years on the job training.
