Question:
They seem to be one of the highest in DCI. It looks to add up to
about 2,000$ a year. Why so much? There are corps who are 600$ for
the whole year. Why does a corps who probably gets more free
equiptment and other promotional stuff, have such a high fee?
Answer:
They are a nonprofit organization. Their camps are held in Teterboro, N.J.
at the Bergen Tech High School (what we used to call [when I attended school
back in Bergen County at Bergen Catholic and Fort Lee High School] the South
Hackensack Institute of Technology,.....S.H.I.T. for short :-) and they
don't pay a dime for use of the facility. They buy their food in bulk so
that is a cheapy. Rent for there headquarters on the third floor of the
Bergenfield, N.J. Municipal Building is $1 (that's one dollar) a year, for
which they are/were supposed to perform one concert a year at Cooper's Pond
in the town Gazebo. And believe me, their office fulltime staff is not paid
any earth shattering salaries. Now if you're talking about their over priced
instructional staff ???? that's another story. Where most of the money goes
to is flying these various staff members all over the country from Newark
Airport to wherever the next contest is,...a practice that is totally
insane.
