I'm trying to remeber the title of a book I read in middle school. It is set in the future..read details plz
I apologize for the vagueness, I don't think the characters are given names. There is some kind of significance with birthdays and it's like the children go to a trade school where they are told what they are going to be and then practice and learn their trade from there. I don't think they are allowed to communicate between genders. At the end there is one man who holds all the memories of time that other people are not allowed to know and he is about to die or something so he is trying to pass them on. I also think they could not refer to themselves with I.
I think ur speaking about The Giver by lois Lowry. especially when u said some thing about birthdays. They are given jobs depending on their birthdays and i think gender. Its a utopia society. Everyone is happy, no crimes, no poverty, no unemployment.
The books main character Jonas. Is given the job to be the receiver of memories. and he learns the truth about the community that no one else knows about besides him and the man who is giving him the memories. So yes i think its the Giver your talking about. Here is a link so u can read more.
