I have several questions about machinist work I hope that someone out there will know the answers.

Get the Surgical Tech Success Handbook and get in the high-paying medical industry!

Question:
How long does it take to learn to be a machinist?

What is that average entry-level pay for a machinist who has gone through technical school?

What is that average amount of pay a machinist makes after five years of experience?

What type of school do you have to go to?

What do you think the earning potential is for machinists in the future?

Is it a business that you could do on your own if you have the right tools?

If so what tools do you have to have and how much do they cost?

How much capital do you have to have to start a business?

Answer:
Depends on the individual.I know guys thats been doing it 20+ years and would not even consider them as a decent aprentice.others pick it up and you would think they were diong it for all their life and they are only 24 yrs old. All depends on the individual. In my area in the southeast a machinist starts at about 7.50 amn hour, or thereabouts. Other parts of the country varies greatlyDepends, you can go to a trade or technical college or possibly a machinist course in the military, others just started out sweeping the floor or doing simple little jobs and worked their way into it.
